Dentelli Great Gatsby Party: DJ, Sound and Photos

What was the event?

Dentelli Dental Clinic holds an annual party for its clients and partners. For this edition the theme was the 1920s, and everything had to match it: the music, the light and the photos.

A themed party lives or dies on details. If the music drifts away from the theme, or the light looks like any other night, the decoration alone cannot carry it.

What did a 1920s rooftop terrace party need?

1. Music that stays on theme but still fills the dance floor.
2. Clear sound for music and speeches, outdoors on the terrace.
3. Light that sets the mood of the era.
4. Photos the clinic could use afterwards, quickly.

What did we do?

Music: DJ Matthew Bee

Matthew Bee planned the music in four parts, one for each stage of the evening:

• Cocktail hour: jazz standards, swing and vintage lounge
• Dinner: electro-swing and modern jazz
• Party: remixes of 1920s classics mixed with current hits
• Late night: deep house with vintage vocal samples

The job was to keep the theme alive and the dance floor full. Matthew adjusted to the crowd as the night went on, so the plan stayed a plan, not a script.

Sound and lighting

The main sound came from a Bose F1 system, a portable PA. A PA is the set of speakers that carries music and speech to the whole crowd. It handled both the music and the speeches. Wireless microphones, with no cable to trip over, were there for toasts and announcements.

For the light, LED uplighting washed the space in amber and gold. Uplighting means lamps placed low that throw colour up onto walls and surfaces. The DJ played on a Pioneer DJ CDJ + DJM setup, the standard club pairing of players and mixer.

We also had backup equipment ready on site. It was not needed.

Photography

Our photographers covered arrivals, the cocktail reception, the dance floor and the decoration. The edited gallery reached Dentelli within 48 hours, ready for social media and client mailings.

What did we supply?

Equipment	Purpose
Bose F1 system	Main PA for music and speeches
Wireless microphones	Toasts and announcements
LED uplighting	Amber and gold light for the theme
DJ setup	Pioneer DJ CDJ + DJM

What changed for the venue?

• 200+ guests through the evening
• No technical issues, outdoors on the terrace
• The client reported that the photo gallery became their most-engaged social content
• The client also reported social media coverage reaching 10,000+ impressions
• Dentelli rebooked for the following year’s event

The clearest result is the last one. A client who books the same team again for next year’s party has told you how the first one went.
